The Short Version

Coding with Kids provides educational programs for children and teens. We collect information needed to register students, deliver our programs, communicate with families, process payments, and keep our services secure.

We do not sell student information or use it for targeted advertising. On appropriate parent-facing pages, optional analytics and advertising tools operate only after the applicable privacy choice has been made. Parents and guardians can ask us to review, correct, or delete their child’s information by contacting us.

Who We Are

Coding with Kids, LLC (“Coding with Kids,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) operates Coding with Kids websites, classes, camps, and related educational services.

For privacy questions or requests, contact us at info@codingwithkids.com, through our Contact Us form, or by mail at Coding with Kids, LLC, PO Box 5025, Bellevue, WA 98009-5025.

Information We Collect

Depending on how you use our services, we may collect:

  • Family and account information, such as a parent or guardian’s name, email address, telephone number, mailing address, login details, and communication preferences.
  • Student and program information, such as a student’s name, age or grade, enrollment, attendance, learning progress, instructor feedback, projects submitted through our systems, and information a family or school provides for participation.
  • Class recordings, which may include a student’s image, voice, screen name, work, and content visible on their screen or in the background.
  • Payment and transaction information, such as registrations, charges, refunds, and billing records. Stripe processes payment-card information; Coding with Kids does not store complete payment-card numbers on its servers.
  • Communications, including support requests, emails, text messages, telephone communications, survey responses, and messages submitted through our contact form.
  • Website and device information, such as IP address, browser and device type, pages viewed, referring page, cookie or storage identifiers, and website interactions.
  • Information from schools and partners, when a school, district, program partner, or service provider helps arrange or deliver a program.

How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • create and manage accounts;
  • enroll students and provide classes and camps;
  • track attendance and learning progress;
  • process payments, refunds, and subscriptions;
  • communicate with families, schools, instructors, and program partners;
  • provide customer and technical support;
  • review class quality and train instructors;
  • protect students, families, staff, and our services, and prevent fraud;
  • meet tax, accounting, contractual, and legal obligations;
  • improve our programs and website; and
  • send marketing communications when permitted by law.

You can unsubscribe from marketing emails using the link in each message. Transactional messages about an account, payment, or class may continue after marketing messages are stopped.

Class Recordings

All live classes are recorded through Zoom for quality review, student safety, technical support, and instructor training. Recordings may be accessed only by authorized personnel and service providers with a legitimate need for those purposes.

We move recordings to trash after five days and permanently delete them after an additional 30 days. We do not use class recordings in advertising, social media, testimonials, or other public materials without separate permission.

Children’s Privacy

Our programs serve children and teens. Accounts and registrations are intended to be completed by a parent, guardian, or authorized school representative. We use student information to provide educational programs, communicate with families, support students, and meet legal obligations.

We do not sell student personal information, use student information for targeted or behavioral advertising, allow students’ personal information to be publicly displayed through our services, or require a child to provide more personal information than is reasonably necessary to participate.

A parent or guardian may ask us to review, correct, delete, or stop further collection or use of their child’s information. We may verify the requester’s identity and relationship to the child before acting on a request.

We require service providers to protect personal information and use it only for authorized purposes.

Cookies and Similar Technologies

We use cookies, local storage, session storage, tags, and similar technologies for website operation, account security, payment fraud prevention, remembering privacy choices, analytics, embedded media, maps, and advertising measurement.

Essential technologies operate when needed to provide or secure the service. Where required, optional analytics and advertising cookies and related features operate only after the appropriate privacy choice has been made. Google Maps is a functional service used to display program locations.

The “Your Privacy Choices” link in the website footer allows you to change optional choices. Changing a choice stops future optional tracking through our website. It does not automatically delete cookies already stored in your browser or information collected before your choice changed. You can remove stored cookies through your browser settings. Our current privacy-technology list is available through Your Privacy Choices.

How Long We Keep Information

We retain personal information while your account remains active. If you ask us to delete your account, we remove personal information associated with the account and anonymize related account, registration, and student records. We may retain limited information where required or permitted by law, including information needed for legal, tax, accounting, security, fraud-prevention, backup, or dispute-resolution purposes. The class-recording retention period is described above.

Your Choices and Privacy Rights

You may update information through your account where available, change optional choices through Your Privacy Choices, unsubscribe from marketing emails, and contact us to request access, correction, deletion, or a copy of personal information. Depending on where you live, you may have additional rights to object to or restrict certain processing, withdraw consent, or appeal a decision about a privacy request.

We may take reasonable steps to verify a request. We will not discriminate against anyone for exercising a privacy right available under applicable law.

California Residents

California law may provide rights to know, access, correct, and delete personal information, to limit certain uses of sensitive personal information, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell personal information for money. Optional advertising technologies on our parent-facing website may involve disclosures that California law defines as “sharing,” even when no money is exchanged.

California visitors can use the “Do Not Sell or Share My Personal Information” link when it is displayed in the website footer, or use Your Privacy Choices. We also honor supported Global Privacy Control signals. We do not knowingly sell or share the personal information of anyone under 16.

International Processing

Coding with Kids and its service providers may process information in the United States and other countries. Where applicable law requires protections for an international transfer, we use recognized contractual or legal safeguards.

People in the European Economic Area, United Kingdom, and certain other jurisdictions may have rights to access, correct, delete, restrict, or object to processing, or receive a portable copy of their information. They may also complain to their local data-protection authority. Where applicable, we process information because it is needed to provide the requested service, meet a legal obligation, protect legitimate interests such as service security, or because consent has been given. Consent may be withdrawn at any time without affecting processing that occurred before withdrawal.

Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information. No system can be guaranteed completely secure.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy when our services, technology, or legal obligations change. We will post the updated policy and change the “Last updated” date. If a material change affects how we use children’s information or information covered by an earlier consent, we will provide additional notice and obtain new consent when required.
